Eco-Team Pupil Power Project
Wed 19 Oct 2022Another year and it’s time to welcome an enthusiastic new Eco-Team to lead us in all things environmental at school this year. We’ve been busy prepping our seed bank (thank you to anyone who has sent their seeds in) and planning our project for the year. This year we are focussing on Pupil Power - a series of small pupil lead changes and challenges for the whole school. After all, Greta Thunberg once said “No one is too small to make a difference.” and this year we’re going to prove that’s true with the children, families and staff of PSJ.
With that in mind, we’d like to set you a half term challenge to help our school reduce unnecessary plastic. In years gone by, at the Christmas Fair, we have run a 'Pint Pot Tombola' where children are sent home with a plastic pint pot to fill with goodies for the children’s tombola. However, that’s over 100 plastic pint pots added to the plastic waste mountain that we don’t need. So, this year instead we are going to run a takeaway tombola instead. Your challenge is to dig out a takeaway container to recycle by filling it with things for the tombola instead (if you don’t have a takeaway tub an old butter tub or similar will do). Below the Eco-Team have taken some pictures of example tubs that we have made up. They have also created a list of possible things to put inside. We are setting ourselves the ambitious target of collecting in 100 tubs!
Once filled, send it into school for the team to collect. We are going to add a tip for an eco-friendly Christmas to each tub before the fair. Then simply come along and try your luck! Who’s tub will you win???
Things to fill your tub with:
sweets, chocolates or snacks
stationary
toiletries
small game or toy
stickers
puzzles
