Hello! and welcome to this years eco-project. Our team of budding eco-warriors are going to be even busier than ever this year. Over the summer Miss Bell went to visit an art exhibition in London called 'Dear Earth'. All the artwork was based on our amazing planet and what we, as humans, are doing to it. This sparked an idea. Why not use our own artistic skills to spread the message about the environment and what we can do to help it.
So, ably lead by Sofia and Ebony, the team are going to set up and run their own art exhibition in the Village Hall. The exhibition will be a combination of individual artworks and group pieces and will be open to everyone from the school and our wider community. With artwork to be judged and prizes awarded for the best in each category.
Keep your eye on this page for more details on how to enter, categories, when to visit the exhibit and the winning pieces.
We will update you when we can.

Project Update
Here's the update you've all been waiting for. Letters have gone out to local community groups asking for group entries but here is the information on how and what to enter for individuals.
What We're Looking For:
We are looking for artwork in any form (drawn, painted, sculpted, grown, knitted, performed, filmed etc) for one of two categories:
1) Art with an environmental theme. This can be interpreted in any way you want. Maybe it's a painting of you're favourite animal, a photograph of your local landscape, a sketch of an environmental campaigner, a word poem about deforestation......the list is endless. If you feel it shows something about our wonderful environment, the problems our planet is facing or the campaigners who are fighting to help save our world then this is the category for you.
2) Art created in a sustainable way. This art can be on any theme (environmental or otherwise) but must be made sustainably (using recycled materials, found items, waste materials, locally sourced or created materials, repurposed items etc). For those who can see all the uses for those extra bits and pieces you have lying around then this is the category for you.
We will also require a small piece of writing to go with your exhibit to explain more about it. For example:
'Here is my picture of a polar bear. Did you know that because of climate change the sea levels are rising and the ice caps melting. This means the polar bears habitat is becoming smaller and smaller every year'.
or
'Here is my 3-D collage of our local beach. I have used driftwood and shells I collected whilst out beach combing with my family.'
When is the Exhibition:
The exhibition is taking place on Saturday the 6th April (all day) at Pilling Village Hall. The exhibition will be open for everyone to come and see the artwork created by both groups and individuals. We will have judges for the age groups in each category and there will also be a People's Choice award for the public's favourite exhibit.
We are also hoping to hold a kids art cafe over the half term holidays before hand to help create some big art pieces and entries. Watch this space for more information.....
How to Enter:
Once you have created your masterpiece, please either drop it off at Pilling St John's School, post it or email it to us or contact Miss Bell on jbell@pillingstjohns.co.uk to have it collected. We are happy to store artworks created before the event. Let us know if there is any special way you want it displaying or important information like DO NOT TOUCH!!
It's time to get creative......ready.......steady.........go!!!
