Here they go again!
Tue 12 Mar 2024Our fantastic Desert Class athletes have once again blown me away with their skill, determination and team spirit this week. Competing in the County Finals, they came an amazing sixth out of thirteen teams. As always when we take pupils out from Pilling St John's, their attitude and behaviour was fantastic.
A big shout out goes to the super parent supporters who came today, helped with transport and photography. We wouldn't be able to give our children these opportunities without this support so thank you.

Mental Health
Sat 02 Dec 2023We all know how important looking after our mental health is and so this week the children got the chance to do a wellbeing yoga lesson with Sophie from the Yogi group. It was great to see the children ( and staff) joining in with such enthusiasm.
It was a lovely calming session followed by a jolly sing along when the singers from Mrs Phoenix-Hart’s community singing group, Sing Up, came to practice for our Monday night performance at the lighting of the village Christmas tree. -
The Great Fire of Forest Schools
Wed 22 Nov 2023This week Mountains had a great time using everything they’ve learnt about the Great Fire of London at Forest Schools.
We used our safe fire skills and knowledge of the fire triangle to build and light our fire. Then, like the bakery on Pudding Lane, we used the fire to cook delicious damper bread.
After that we used Year 2s hand drawn houses to recreate a 1666 London Street before setting fire to it to see how important leaving fire breaks between the buildings is.
A happy, smoke-filled afternoon.

Oh What a Night!
Tue 14 Nov 2023Last night, Pilling St John's team of dancers shone like stars. The 19 strong team performed in front of a 2000 strong audience at the Blackpool Winter Garden's Dance Festival.
Their performance of 'Heroes Aren't Born They're Built' was really fantastic and a special shout out goes to Evie M for her amazing solo start.
Needless to say their behaviour, as always, was impeccable and they did the whole school proud. Video to follow once we've edited!

Poolfoot and Puddles!
Tue 07 Nov 2023Well done to our amazing footballers and their wonderful parents who survived a very wet football tournament at Poolfoot last Friday. Against some much bigger schools, we did ourselves proud. Big thank you especially to Mr Baynham for coaching and managing all the footbally bits Miss Bell can't do all day!

Autumnal Art
Thu 19 Oct 2023This week at Forest Schools we were revealing in one of the joys of autumn, all the leaves.
after creating a leaf slide in the morning, we decided to do some leaf based artwork during our afternoon session. The children collected and painted the leaves, before using them to print on paper. Some of the children then added pencil lines to turn their prints into creatures.

Sounds of the Forest
Mon 09 Oct 2023A big thank you to Mrs Phoenix-Hart who brought an orchestra of instruments to our Forest School session last week. The children had a great time trying them out and even created their own band ‘Sounds of the Forest’ who performed at the end of the session.
(See the Forest Schools page for a sneaky clip!)

It’s Great To Be Back!
Wed 06 Sep 2023When the weather’s as glorious as this there’s no place better to be than Forest School. Mountain Class had a great afternoon harvesting apples (and sampling a few), onions and seeds as well as hunting for frogs and caterpillars.
Year 1 even had time to get started on the all important Tree Climbing Licence!
What a busy afternoon it was, here’s hoping the weather stays as good for the rest of term.
