Pupil Power
Hello all,
welcome to our Pupil Power Project. This year, we are taking up the mantle of one of our Eco-Heroes, Greta Thunberg. She said “No one is too small to make a difference.” And we’re setting out to prove her right. This year our team will be running a series of small projects and looking at the differences each one of us can make to help our world. Read on to find out more!

It’s harvest time! Send your seeds in for us to dry and sort for the Seedbank next spring. Then you’ll have something new and exciting to grow next year.

October/November
Here’s your next challenge, in order to cut down the plastic waste at this years Christmas Fair, we’re asking you to help us with our takeaway tub tombola instead of the traditional pint pot tombola. This way we can reuse old takeaway tubs and give them a new lease of life instead of using new plastic pint pots which only creates more single use plastic waste. Fill your tub with the usual: sweets, small toys, stationery, toiletries or something Christmassy. Then, come along and have a go. Who’s tub will you take home!!!

Happy New Year! Fancy setting yourself a New Years resolution, why not join our campaign to include an eco-resolution. Check out the Friday letter for some ideas. We will all be having a go in class but please let us know what you’re doing at home. We love to hear from you. You can email Miss Bell on jbell@pilling-st-johns.lancs.sch.uk or let one of the children know what you’re doing.

Pilling St John's Eco-Resolutions
Desert Class - To Switch off all the lights every time we leave the classroom and reduce their use when they're not needed.
Ocean Class - To throw away less paper and use more scrap paper instead of new paper.
Mountain Class - To Switch off the lights when we go out.
Star Class - To make sure we turn off the taps in the bathroom.

March/April
Spring has sprung and the Eco-Team have been busy at it again. This half term we have created a pair of Eco-Gnomes who love adventures. N-eco and Naomi are our Eco-mascots for this year. They have been out visiting peoples homes and getting up to lots of different eco adventures. Not only that, but with the help of the eco-team they helped make a mock up of an eco garden for Mountain Class to study. What busy little gnomes they are!
Keep your eyes peeled for some pictures!
If you'd like a gnome visit, just let Miss Bell know.
