Loose Parts Creations
Our skills of creating using the different loose parts have been developing this half term. We have been learning about different houses and homes and some of the children have created some wonderful 'towns' using the different loose parts available.
Cold Colour Mixing
We have been investigating how to mix blue and white paint together to make different shades of blue. We started off with blue paint and slowly added white to create lighter and lighter shades, mixing the paint carefully and talking about the changes. "It's frosty", "It's like the sky", "It goes lighter when I put white in".
Christmas preparations
We have been very busy in Star class this week getting ready for Christmas. We decorated our tree and used our problem solving skills to wrap 'presents' to go underneath it. This involved measuring wrapping paper that was big enough to cover different sized boxes, cutting it to size and then developing our wrapping skills using the sellotape to secure it all together. We have enjoyed making some Christmas cards, creating loose parts decorated Christmas trees and enjoying a variety of other crafts together.
Shape Hunting Fun
This week we have been learning about shapes, specifically circles and triangles. After learning about the shapes together we went on shape hunt around our outdoor area to see how many circles and triangles we could find.
Autumn Art
This week we have been learning about Autumn. We talked about the different Autumn colours we could see around the school grounds and the changes that are happening to the trees. We learnt how to mix the colour orange using red and yellow paint and had lots of fun printing with the paint.
A busy creative week in star Class!
This week the children have been busy getting creative indoors and outdoors by practising their painting skills.
Playdough Fun!
The children helped Mrs Diggins to make playdough this week using lots of mathematical vocabulary as they did so. The children also used words to describe the feel of the playdough when it was finished- 'soft' 'warm' 'squishy' 'squeezy'. The playdough was then used in a variety of creative ways from modelling to counting!
Finger Paint Challenge
This week we were set the challenge of painting a picture using only our fingers. We had a wonderful time creating some fantastic masterpieces and explored colour mixing and developed our fine motor skills in the process.
What makes me special?
This week we designed and created a fish linked to our key text and talked about how each one was special and unique just like us.
Loose Part Art
The children have enjoyed exploring our loose parts station this week. They have been busy using the resources in their play and to create some unique art work.
Forest School
The children enjoyed finding frogs in the long grass in Forest School. They sang 'Five Little Speckled Frogs' to practise their counting skills. They also discussed the lifecycle of a frog and the conditions they like to live in.
