Forest Schools Caramel Apples!
This week, in class, the children have been looking at different melting points. So, today in Forest Schools we celebrated bonfire night a bit early and used what we'd learnt to make caramel apples over the fire. How did they turn out............sticky but tasty! See the Forest Schools page for more pictures of what we got up to today.
Science: Exploring the freezing and boiling point of water
The children had fun using thermometers to measure the temperature of warm water and cold water from the tap. They then measured the temperature of ice cubes as they began to melt. The children watched a demonstration of what happens to the temperature of boiling water when salt is added. We found that salt raises the boiling point. We then wondered if sugar would alter the boiling point as well and found that it did!
